Lewis Appiagyei at Go Karting San Bartolome

We had one of Lewis Hamilton’s biggest fans visit our go karting track in Lanzarote this week.

Lewis Appiagyei is just 9 years old and not just a fan, he’s determined to follow in

Lewis Hamilton’s footsteps. In a strange co-incidence, Lewis not only shares the same first name as his hero, but also his birthday and what’s more his dad is even called Anthony, the same as Hamilton’s.

It’s not just on the track, that Lewis is making a name for himself, he’s already caught the attention of Red Bull after recording the world’s fastest time in a Red Bull X1 car whilst playing the driving simulator game Gran Turismo 5 at the Circuit de Monaco.   Lewis started playing racing games on a PSP at the tender age of three, his first karting experience was a lesson at Buckmore Park for Christmas, when he was 7 years old. Last year he won the title Junior Rookie of the Year 2012 and he has already secured his first sponsorship deal with Bridgepoint.

Lewis competes in the SODI world series Junior Cup, regularly racing at Buckmore Park &; Bayford Meadows in Kent as well as Daytona in Milton Keynes. After competing in five races this season, Lewis is currently ranked 51 out of 237 drivers in the Junior Cup (7-14 years old) worldwide, and 11th place in the Junior Cup ranking for the United Kingdom.

This little lad from Camden in North London is very focussed on achieving his dream of becoming a Formula 1 champion.

Thanks for the visit Lewis, we wish you all the very best in your racing career.
